課程概述

This course introduces the fundamental results in the revealed preference theory. The objectives of the theory are to understand what economic models say about the observable world and how to verify if given data are consistent with a given model.

In the first half of the semester, we focus on the classic models of choice, including choice in an abstract setting, demand and production theories, and random choice. In the second half of the semester, we focus on choice under uncertainty, collective choice theory, and social choice. We also discuss the measures of the severity of a violation of a model.

課程要求
 Grading:
Problem Sets: 40%
Mid-term Exam: 30%
Final Exam: 30%

Problem Sets will be distributed every one or two weeks. Each set will contain two to three questions. Those questions are designed to familiarize students with the basic concepts. Only minimal technical proofs and computations will be involved.

Most questions in the mid-term and final exams will be analogous to the questions in the problem sets.


Requirements for students after the class:
Students are required to do problem sets. They are encouraged to discuss with each other, but each student must hand in his or her solutions separately.

 另約時間 備註： Whatever questions you have, always email me first. We may efficiently resolve your problems through email communication. If you would like to meet me in person, make an appointment via email. Monday is usually preferred. We can meet in the morning or after class somewhere around the NTU campus. On the other days, you may have to come to Academia Sinica, or we arrange an online meeting.
